WhatsApp malfunctions reported, users unable to send photos and stickers

Users of the popular messaging application WhatsApp are experiencing significant disruptions, with widespread reports of malfunctions emerging on Monday afternoon, August 3rd. The primary issue appears to be the app's inability to send and properly interpret multimedia content, affecting the transmission of images, videos, audio files, and stickers.

The problem seems to be concentrated among users of the Android operating system, while users on iOS devices are reportedly experiencing relatively normal service. Specialized website Downdetector has registered a consistent increase in user complaints since approximately 4:30 PM, indicating a large-scale outage.

As of now, Meta, the company that owns WhatsApp, has not released an official statement addressing the cause of the malfunction or providing an estimated time for the full restoration of service for affected devices. Users have taken to social media to express their frustration, with some initially mistaking the app's issues for their own internet connectivity problems.
