When Is Qualifying for the 2026 Italian Grand Prix?

Formula One qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix will begin Saturday at 11 a.m. Argentina time at Monza, after the weekend’s three scheduled practice sessions. The race will follow on Sunday.

The session will determine the starting positions for 21 of the 22 cars. Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli will start the race from the back of the grid regardless of his qualifying performance because he received a penalty for changing his car’s engine.

Antonelli leads the championship with 242 points. His closest pursuers are teammate George Russell and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, both on 183. McLaren’s Lando Norris, the defending champion who has won the last two races, sits fourth with 159 points.

Russell, Hamilton and Norris will try to close the gap created by Antonelli’s strong start to the season, when he won five of the first six races.
