When will the Fed announce its September 2026 rate decision?

Markets are watching the Federal Reserve’s September decision for clues about whether U.S. interest rates could rise. Expectations for an increase have strengthened as investors track inflation and recent economic data.

The Fed will meet on Sept. 15-16, 2026, and announce its decision on the second day, Wednesday, Sept. 16. The announcement will come at 9 p.m. Turkey time.

Minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee’s July 28-29 meeting showed that the policy rate remained unchanged at 3.5% to 3.75%, in line with expectations. They also indicated that some officials believed a rate increase might be needed if inflation did not continue to ease. Attention has turned to how that view will shape expectations for the dollar, gold and financial markets.
