Where God Places His Pleasure and Anger

In Islam, the concepts of God's pleasure and anger are directly tied to human actions, according to Al-Imam Al-Habib Abdullah bin Alawi Al-Haddad. He explains that God places His pleasure in obedience and His anger in acts of disobedience. Every human action, therefore, presents a choice between incurring divine favor or wrath.

Al-Haddad emphasizes that God has willed obedience to be the path to His pleasure and sin to be the cause of His anger. Islamic teachings promise paradise to those who obey God and His messenger, through divine mercy. Conversely, those who defy Him face the threat of hellfire, a consequence of God's justice and wisdom.

This principle is reflected in Quranic verses. Surah An-Nisa, verse 13, states that obedience to Allah and His messenger leads to eternal paradise, described as a great victory. In contrast, Surah An-Nisa, verse 14, warns that disobedience and transgression of God's limits will result in eternal, humiliating punishment in hellfire.

Muslims are therefore called to hasten towards God's forgiveness and paradise. This involves actively protecting themselves and their families from hellfire by adhering to divine commands and abstaining from prohibitions.
