White House Signals Trump is Weighing New Strikes on Iran

The White House has signaled that President Donald Trump is contemplating further military action against Iran. This development arises as the U.S. intensifies its demands for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and comply with terms of a truce agreement that collapsed shortly after its formation last month.

While no U.S. strikes occurred overnight, Iran's Revolutionary Guard reported attacking two additional tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Concurrently, Kuwait announced it had intercepted drones. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt voiced the administration's frustration, accusing Iran of signing a memorandum of understanding on a truce last month only to "break it, shoot at commercial ships, and kill American soldiers."

"President Trump is not going to stand by and allow this terrorist behavior to occur," Leavitt stated Friday evening. "Iran will continue to pay until they come to the table in, what President Trump deems, a meaningful way." This warning followed earlier remarks by Trump, who told reporters, "we just want to win" in Iran and suggested that U.S. military operations would persist. "We’ll be hitting them very hard," Trump said during a meeting with his Cabinet at Camp David.
