Why Dajjal's Name Is Not Mentioned in the Quran

Muslims believe that Dajjal, an anti-Christ figure, will emerge at the end of time to deceive people. His appearance is considered a sign that the major judgment day is near.

Information about Dajjal is found in various hadiths, or sayings, of the Prophet Muhammad. However, Dajjal's emergence as a sign of the end times is not explicitly stated in the Quran. This has led to questions about why this significant event is not directly mentioned in the holy book.

They do not wait except for the angels to come to them, or your Lord to come, or some signs from your Lord. On the Day when some signs from your Lord come, no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before or earned good through its faith. Say, 'Wait; indeed, we are waiting.'

According to Islamic scholars, Quranic verse 6:158 indirectly alludes to Dajjal's appearance as one of the signs preceding the end of time. The verse states: "They do not wait except for the angels to come to them, or your Lord to come, or some signs from your Lord. On the Day when some signs from your Lord come, no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before or earned good through its faith. Say, 'Wait; indeed, we are waiting.'"

Imam Ibn Kathir, in his tafsir (exegesis), explains that before the end of time, various signs will appear. Among these signs, as mentioned in several hadiths, is the coming of Dajjal. A hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah RA and recorded by Ahmad, Muslim, and Tirmidhi, states that three things will occur, after which faith will not benefit those who did not believe before: the rising of the sun from the west, the appearance of Dajjal, and the emergence of a beast from the earth.
