The People Power Party has explained its decision to exclude Daegu and Gyeongnam, traditional strongholds, from its election appeals regarding ballot shortages during the recent local elections. The party cited "legal limitations" and the "potential impact on the election" as key factors in this decision.

There were parts where it seemed difficult for the (Central) Election Management Committee to accurately grasp the situation, including the ballot shortage, management and supervision, and the serious infringement of voting rights.

Jang Dong-hyuk, a party leader, stated that the Central Election Management Committee faced challenges in accurately assessing the severity of voter rights infringements and management oversight issues related to the ballot shortage. He suggested that the nature of the election appeal system itself, which can influence ongoing elections, led to careful consideration before including certain regions.

The party officially filed election appeals in 11 regions, including Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, and four other areas where candidates filed appeals. However, the omission of Daegu and Gyeongnam, despite experiencing ballot shortages, has led to accusations of inconsistency and fairness concerns from the opposition Democratic Party.
