Wike remains our valuable asset, PDP tells APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly dismissed any notion that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, might permanently join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The PDP maintains that Wike remains one of its most valuable political assets, even while serving in an APC-led administration.

The Peoples Democratic Party has noted with amusement the candid acknowledgment by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, of the remarkable contributions, exceptional leadership, and outstanding performance of one of the PDP’s finest assets, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency, Chief Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON, during the commissioning of a major project in Abuja.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, stated that the party has no intention of relinquishing one of its prominent figures, regardless of any attempts to lure him away. This stance follows recent commendations of Wike's performance by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, during a project commissioning in Abuja. The PDP interprets this praise as an acknowledgment of the quality leadership within its ranks and reaffirms Wike's integral role in the party.

It added that the commendation reinforces the fact that the PDP remains home to accomplished leaders. However, the party clarified that Wike is a committed and loyal PDP member.

However, while we welcome the open admiration expressed by the APC National Chairman and the glowing accolades showered on our national leader, it is necessary to clarify that Barrister Wike remains a committed and loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The PDP characterized Wike's engagement with the federal government as a "loan arrangement" with no provision for a permanent transfer. They stressed that his appointment does not signify a political defection, nor has it diminished his loyalty or contributions to the PDP. The party explicitly warned the APC against entertaining any permanent transfer deals for Wike, emphasizing their unwillingness to part with such a valuable political asset.

As Professor Yilwatda himself implied, Barrister Wike’s engagement with the APC-led administration is best described as a loan arrangement, and we wish to state unequivocally that the agreement contains no provision whatsoever for a permanent transfer deal.
