Wild Boar on Jeju Golf Course Shot After 40-Minute Appearance

A wild boar caused a stir at a golf course in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, on August 10, leading to its swift capture and termination. The incident began around 8:49 AM when the approximately 100-kilogram animal was spotted on the course in Pyeoseon-myeon, Seongsan-ri.

Golfers present at the time were safely evacuated to areas outside the course as the boar was observed feeding and lingering within the grounds. The appearance of the wild animal disrupted the game and raised safety concerns among the patrons.

Authorities were alerted, and a licensed hunter arrived on the scene. Following the procedures outlined in the 'Jeju Island Wildlife Protection and Management Ordinance,' which permits the capture of designated hazardous wildlife like wild boars using firearms or traps, the hunter successfully shot the animal at approximately 9:31 AM. The entire operation from the initial report to the boar's termination took about 40 minutes.
