Willian Pacho and PSG head to European Super Cup without a preseason win

Paris Saint-Germain's final preseason match ended in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United, extending their winless streak in preparation for the European Super Cup. Ecuadorian defender Willian Pacho started the game in Gothenburg, Sweden, playing 61 minutes and contributing defensively before being substituted.

The French champions, under coach Luis Enrique, were seeking to improve their image after a significant 3-0 loss to Spanish second-division side Mallorca. While the team showed a better performance against Manchester United, they were unable to secure their first victory of the European summer.

PSG took an early lead in the second minute through Ibrahim Mbaye, but Manchester United equalized in the 32nd minute after a defensive error by the Parisian side. Amad Diallo capitalized on the mistake, assisting Bryan Mbeumo for the equalizer.

Despite the draw, Luis Enrique expressed optimism, highlighting the positive aspects of the match and the team's ongoing preparation. "We saw good things. We started the game well and then made normal mistakes at this stage of the season," he told the club's official media. "Everything is positive, we had no injuries and we are already thinking about the Super Cup final."

The team will face Aston Villa, the UEFA Europa League champions, on August 12 for the European Super Cup, their first official title of the 2026-2027 season, with only one draw and one loss from their preseason friendlies.
