With a Spanish chorus: U2 released their new song "Streets of Dreams"

Irish rock band U2 has unveiled "Streets of Dreams," their latest single, which notably incorporates a chorus sung in Spanish: "La calle, la calle del sueño." This release marks the first glimpse of their forthcoming album, their first in nine years, scheduled for publication later this year.

The accompanying music video was filmed in Mexico City during the band's visit for the Street Child World Cup 2026 final. Shot near the Plaza de Santo Domingo, the recording drew hundreds of fans despite inclement weather, including a severe thunderstorm that disrupted power. A local family provided refuge for the band members, allowing them to continue filming from their apartment balcony.

The video features the band performing on a bus adorned with graffiti by Mexican artist Chavis Mármol. The front of the vehicle displays "La calle de los sueños," a Spanish translation of the song's title. The track itself carries a strong social message, with lyrics like "Justice an obsession on the street of dreams."

Produced by Jacknife Lee, "Street of Dreams" harks back to U2's signature sound. The band is approaching its 50th anniversary, having formed in Dublin when drummer Larry Mullen Jr. posted a notice seeking musicians. The single is now available on digital download and streaming platforms.
