RB Leipzig suffered their first significant defeat of the preseason, losing 0-2 to Leeds United in a friendly match. The German club was offensively ineffective and conceded goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin early on and Lukas Nmecha shortly before the end of the 120-minute game.

The team played without German national player Assan Ouédraogo, who was sidelined due to a shoulder injury and is expected to miss several weeks. Coach Martin Demichelis made extensive substitutions at halftime, changing almost the entire squad.
