Wolfe’s agent on transfer from Wolverhampton: “A small war”

David Møller Wolfe’s move to Hamburg SV took “a small war,” according to his agent, Stig Lillejord. The 23-year-old joined the German club on loan with an option for a permanent transfer.

He said negotiations with Wolverhampton involved “many tough rounds” and that the club had made it extremely difficult for Wolfe to leave. The parties believed they had reached an agreement before the weekend, Lillejord said, but new issues then emerged from Wolves’ side.

Lillejord acknowledged that he had feared the move would fail several times, including on the day it was completed. Wolfe began last season as Wolves’ first-choice left-back, but Hugo Bueno later took the position and kept it for the rest of the campaign. Bueno remains the first choice this season.

He added that Wolves had been clear they wanted Wolfe at Hamburg SV and that the player would have plenty of opportunities there.
