Woman accuses San Lorenzo transit agent of coercion and inappropriate advances

A 21-year-old woman has filed a complaint accusing a municipal transit agent in San Lorenzo, Paraguay, of coercion. The alleged incident occurred on the night of July 23 on Saturio Ríos and 14 de Mayo streets.

The complainant, Yanina Monserrath Arce, stated that she was stopped while riding her motorcycle for a document check. According to her account, the agent, identified as Christian Alberto Estigarribia Pereira, 35, informed her that the fine for not having the vehicle's documents was 800,000 Paraguayan guaranis.

Following a discussion about the fine, the agent allegedly grabbed her, embraced her, and took her into a car. The young woman claims he then kissed her and touched her inappropriately before releasing her and her motorcycle. Her family reported that a confrontation occurred between the accused agent and a relative of the victim.

The case has been reported to prosecutor Viviana Riveros, who has transferred the proceedings to the Public Ministry for a formal investigation.
