Woman Arrested After Crashing Car, Injuring Two Pedestrians in Mar del Plata

A violent accident in Mar del Plata, Argentina, resulted in the arrest of a 54-year-old woman after her vehicle struck two pedestrians, including a 15-year-old boy. The incident occurred Monday afternoon at the intersection of Catamarca and Moreno streets.

The driver was operating a Peugeot 206 when it collided with a Nissan Tiida. Following the initial impact, she lost control of her car, veered onto the sidewalk of a gas station, and hit the two pedestrians who were preparing to cross the street. Security footage captured the moment the Peugeot, after hitting the other car, dragged one of the victims several meters with the front of the vehicle.

Emergency medical personnel from SAME attended to the injured. The father sustained multiple traumas and was taken to the Hospital Interzonal General de Agudos (HIGA). His son suffered a severe head injury with loss of consciousness and was transported in critical condition to Clínica Colón.

During the police investigation at the scene, officers from the First Precinct and Municipal Transit personnel discovered that the driver was allegedly operating with a counterfeit driver's license. Furthermore, the car lacked the necessary documentation to be on the road. The prosecutor's office ordered the woman's immediate detention on charges of negligent injury and public document forgery. She was subsequently transferred to Penal Unit No. 50 in Batán.
