Woman Arrested After Four Men Stabbed in Central London

A busy tourist area in central London was the scene of a violent incident Wednesday when a woman allegedly stabbed four men in Covent Garden. Police responded rapidly, arresting a 47-year-old woman on suspicion of assault and possessing an offensive weapon.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 12:30 p.m. local time. The Metropolitan Police stated that while the investigation is in its early stages, the incident is believed to be "mental health related." Officers recovered a pair of scissors, which is being treated as the offensive weapon used in the attack.

The four male victims, aged 34, 39, 42, and 52, sustained injuries and were transported by the London Ambulance Service to a major trauma center. Their conditions have not been released.

Images from the scene showed an air ambulance helicopter in nearby Trafalgar Square and police tape cordoning off the popular shopping and dining area. While shootings are rare in the United Kingdom due to strict firearms regulations, the use of knives and other sharp objects remains a persistent concern for authorities.
