Woman arrested in Buenos Aires for alleged murder of 83-year-old in Córdoba

Buenos Aires police have arrested a 22-year-old woman in the Retiro neighborhood, identifying her as the prime suspect in the murder of an 83-year-old woman in Córdoba. The arrest was made by the City Police's Homicide Division in coordination with Córdoba police.

Authorities in Córdoba had reported that a delegation from their Homicide Department was traveling to Buenos Aires to apprehend the suspect. She is accused of the murder of María Cristina Trejo, an elderly woman who lived alone in the provincial capital and was known for assisting vulnerable individuals. Investigators believe Trejo and the suspect knew each other, as her home showed no signs of disorder.

Following the discovery of Trejo's body on July 6, marked by blows to the back of her head, the investigation led authorities to believe the suspect had fled Córdoba for Buenos Aires. Her movements were tracked through social media posts, which showed her in various locations across the capital. Police located her after she rented a temporary room in the Paraguay and Esmeralda area, and subsequently apprehended her on Paraguay street.

At the time of her arrest, the woman was in possession of a cell phone, a tablet, and various foreign currencies, including Turkish lira, Australian dollars, Uruguayan and Colombian pesos, Brazilian reals, and Indonesian rupiah. A judge has approved her detention in a City Police holding facility pending her transfer to Córdoba.
