Woman arrested in Los Cabos for alleged extortion in Durango

Authorities have apprehended a woman in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, who was wanted for her alleged involvement in an extortion case in Durango. The suspect, identified as Beatriz “N,” 44, was detained as she arrived on a flight from Durango.

Beatriz “N” was reportedly seeking to board a flight to Guanajuato when she was arrested. Judicial records indicate she is accused of demanding 1 million pesos from a victim in exchange for not publishing private images without consent.

The arrest was a coordinated effort involving the State Investigation Police Unit, the National Guard, and the State Attorney General's Office, working in conjunction with Durango authorities. Following her detention, Beatriz “N” was placed at the disposal of the relevant judicial authority to face legal proceedings.

This arrest occurs amid reinforced security checks at major entry points in Baja California Sur. Earlier in August, the state's Public Security Secretariat reported that 59 individuals with outstanding arrest warrants had been detained in 2026, many at checkpoints, ports, and airports, for offenses including robbery, homicide, kidnapping, drug-related crimes, and fraud.
