Woman dies after being hit by vehicle in Newmarket crash

A woman has died following a serious collision in Newmarket, Ontario, after being struck by a vehicle late Thursday night. Emergency services were called to the intersection of Davis Drive and Parkside Drive around 11 p.m. where they discovered the pedestrian.

Paramedics rushed the woman to a hospital with critical injuries. Despite efforts to save her, local MPP Dawn Gallagher Murphy confirmed the pedestrian's death in a social media post. "Saddened to hear about the tragic death of a pedestrian in Newmarket last night," she wrote, extending thoughts to the victim's family and thanking first responders for their swift actions.

The York Regional Police have handed the investigation over to their major collision investigations unit. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under review as authorities work to piece together the events that led to the fatal crash.
