Woman Dies After Bungee Jump Safety Failure in Brazil

A tragic accident during a bungee jump in Limeira, São Paulo, has resulted in the death of a 21-year-old woman. Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas fell to her death after her safety equipment reportedly failed during the jump from the Ponte do Esqueleto viaduct, which stands between 30 and 35 meters high.

Preliminary reports from the Military Police suggest that the harnesses and safety cables were not correctly attached, causing the woman to be launched into the void without protection. This resulted in her suffering fatal polytrauma.

The incident, which occurred around 10:00 AM local time, was captured on video by witnesses. The footage shows bystanders reacting with horror, shouting "People, the rope!" as they realized the victim was falling without any safety tether.

Emergency medical teams attempted resuscitation maneuvers at the scene, but the severity of her injuries led to the confirmation of her death. At least six people were detained by authorities, including two instructors who attempted to flee into a nearby wooded area. They were apprehended with the assistance of a police helicopter.
