Woman Dies from Partner's Alleged Knife Attack in Dominican Republic; Another Fatally Shot in Separate Incident

A woman identified as Nelki Alejandrina Rodríguez García died in the Dominican Republic's Montecristi province after being allegedly wounded by her partner. She passed away while receiving medical attention following the Saturday night incident. Preliminary reports suggest she was attacked with a bladed weapon, though this remains unconfirmed.

Alain de Jesús Guzmán Castellano, 30, has been identified as the alleged assailant. He was apprehended and taken to Villa Vásquez for processing. The victim's body was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) in Santiago for an autopsy.

In a separate incident on Sunday in Salcedo, Hermanas Mirabal province, a young woman named Génesis Brito was killed by multiple gunshots in the Los Mangos sector. Two other individuals were injured during the attack and are receiving medical care. Initial accounts indicate the shots were fired by hooded individuals whose identities and motives are currently unknown.

Authorities are actively investigating both incidents to determine the circumstances and assign responsibility.
