Woman grateful to raise child outside prison after early release

A 32-year-old woman, who endured the hardship of giving birth while imprisoned, is determined not to return to behind bars. She recently received a second chance through the Prisoner Release by License (PBSL) program, an opportunity she cherishes deeply.

"I am grateful to receive this PBSL release. I can raise my child outside, not inside prison. I am thankful for the chance to change my life and raise my child outside," she shared. The incident marked a significant turning point in her life, reinforcing her commitment to leave behind her past involvement in selling drugs.

She was arrested in November 2025 when she was three months pregnant and subsequently sentenced to two years in prison. The child born during her incarceration has become her primary motivation for change. "I feel sorry for my child. I want her to grow up like other children outside, not grow up in prison," she stated.

Recounting her past involvement in drug sales, the woman admitted to being engaged in the activity for a long time but lacked the genuine desire to change until her imprisonment. The PBSL program has provided her with the opportunity to rebuild her life and focus on providing a stable environment for her child, away from the confines of prison.
