Woman killed, another wounded in Mazatlán shooting; Culiacán business vandalized, burned

A violent attack in Mazatlán, Mexico, left one woman dead and another injured on Tuesday. The victims were traveling in a gray Versa when they were shot. The driver died at the scene, while her companion was rushed to a Mazatlán hospital.

Federal and state forces patrolling the area responded to reports of gunfire near a convenience store. Upon arrival, they discovered the two women inside the vehicle, which showed bullet impacts on its windows and chassis. The state prosecutor's office confirmed one woman had no vital signs. Initial investigations at the scene did not establish the identities of the women, though one was identified as 46 years old and sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

In a separate incident in Culiacán, a commercial property was vandalized and set on fire. Police and firefighters responded to the blaze on Pascual Orozco Avenue. They controlled the fire but found the property had been forcibly entered, suggesting a possible prior looting before it was set ablaze. No injuries were reported in the Culiacán incident.
