Woman killed by bus in Moreno; driver charged with manslaughter

A tragic accident in Moreno, Argentina, has resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman after she was struck by a bus. The incident occurred at the intersection of Bartolomé Mitre and Rivadavia, involving a Mercedes-Benz bus from the Transportes La Perlita company, operating on route 26.

The victim, identified by her initials N.R., was reportedly crossing the street behind the bus when the driver, identified as S.I.A., began a reversing maneuver. According to police reports, the bus collided with her, causing her to fall and sustain fatal injuries. Emergency services arrived at the scene, but medical personnel confirmed her death.

Security camera footage documented the sequence of events. The video shows the woman standing behind the bus, intending to cross the street, and looking in both directions. As the bus started to reverse, she disappeared from view. Bystanders initially seemed unaware of the unfolding tragedy but quickly reacted, signaling the driver to stop and banging on the vehicle.

The 38-year-old driver has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. While he was notified of the legal proceedings, no measures were taken regarding his liberty. The prosecutor's office has seized the bus and ordered a blood sample from the driver. The investigation is being handled by the Functional Unit of Instruction (UFI) No. 4 of Moreno.
