Woman killed, valuables looted in Dhaka apartment break-in

Police in Dhaka are investigating the death of a 42-year-old woman, identified as Sara Roksana Pinu, who was found deceased in her apartment in the Dakshinkhan area on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred after unknown assailants broke into her home.

According to police reports, the intruders gained entry by cutting through the grille of a second-floor window. They allegedly suffocated Pinu before fleeing the scene with various household valuables. The victim was alone at her residence, which she shared with her husband and two school-aged daughters, when the attack took place.

Dakshinkhan Additional Deputy Commissioner Ershad Khan stated that the body was recovered around 3:00 PM. "We suspect she was suffocated. Some valuables are missing. It is not yet clear whether this was a case of burglary or linked to previous enmity," Khan told The Daily Star. The Uttara police Deputy Commissioner, Mirza Tarek Ahmed, confirmed that the crime scene unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was collecting evidence from the location.
