Women Entrepreneurs Honored at Nepal's SHEpreneur Awards 2026

The third annual SHEpreneur Awards, hosted by Hatti Hatti Nepal, celebrated the achievements of women-led social enterprises, underscoring their vital role in Nepal's development. This year's event, held at the Marriott Hotel, was particularly significant as it coincided with Hatti Hatti's own strategic expansion into the textile production sector.

Priya Sigdel, founder of Hatti Hatti Nepal, shared the organization's vision, announcing the establishment of Hatti Hatti Enterprise in Pokhara. This initiative directly addresses critical gaps in Nepal's domestic textile industry and waste management, a sector ripe with potential for structured growth and value creation. Sigdel highlighted the overlooked issue of textile waste, emphasizing the need for domestic solutions.

While working in the textile sector, we realised how limited opportunities are in Nepal. We frequently discuss solid waste management, but textile waste is rarely a part of that conversation. There is significant potential to create structure and value within this sector domestically.

The awards themselves honored six outstanding women entrepreneurs from various provinces, recognizing their contributions to social impact and community empowerment. This focus on provincial-level recognition is crucial for strengthening local economies, a point echoed by Sunita Dangol, acting mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Her announcement of significant financial support for new businesses, including loans up to Rs500,000 for individuals and Rs5 million for groups, signals a strong commitment to fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem within Nepal.
