Workers from At-Risk Sectors to Gain Skills for Defense Industry

The Provincial Labour Office in Lublin has launched a call for applications for training projects designed to adapt workers from at-risk industries to the needs of the defense sector. This initiative, operating under the "European Funds for Lubelskie" program, aims to equip employees with skills crucial for the defense industry and dual-use technologies.

The program, specifically action 17.2 "Adaptability of employees to changes for the needs of the defense and security industry," seeks to retrain individuals employed in sectors facing potential layoffs. The goal is to prepare them for roles within companies involved in defense and security.

While individual workers will not directly apply for funding, projects can be submitted by various entities, including local government units and their organizational units, employment agencies, training institutions registered in the Business Services Development Database, non-governmental organizations, social economy entities, and businesses. A key requirement for applicants is a connection to the Lubelskie Voivodeship through their registered office, branch, or production facility.

The ultimate beneficiaries of this support will be individuals residing or working in the region who come from sectors identified as vulnerable to employment cuts. These sectors include, but are not limited to, transport, freight forwarding and logistics, clothing production and sales, construction, finance and accounting, machinery and metal components manufacturing, IT, security, and industrial equipment servicing.
