Works kicks off on 9m afs water supply network in Logar

Construction has commenced on a vital water supply network in the Baraki Barak district of central Logar province, Afghanistan. The project, valued at 9 million afghanis (approximately $100,000 USD), is set to significantly improve access to safe drinking water for local residents.

Funded by the Danish Committee for Aid to Afghan Refugees (DACAAR), the initiative is expected to be completed within three months. Key components of the project include drilling a deep well, constructing a 40-cubic-meter water reservoir, and laying over 16,600 meters of pipelines. Upon completion, the network will supply water to 193 households, a local madrassa, a school, and 10 mosques, benefiting an estimated 512 families.

During the construction phase, the project will provide temporary employment opportunities for dozens of local residents. District Administrative Chief Mawlawi Noorullah Ghalib highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between citizens and officials for the nation's reconstruction and development. He urged sincere work and coordination for the country's prosperity.

Logar Rural Rehabilitation and Development Director Mawlawi Noorullah Hikmat noted that this water supply network is one of over ten development projects launched in the province within the last three months. The department remains committed to implementing further projects aimed at enhancing public welfare and improving living standards in the region.
