World Nomad Games: Kyrgyzstan’s Almaz Dzhunusov wins two traditional archery golds

Almaz Dzhunusov of Kyrgyzstan claimed two gold medals in traditional archery at the sixth World Nomad Games, winning competitions held under both Kyrgyz and Turkish rules.

In the event conducted under Kyrgyz rules, Dzhunusov won the men’s title. Kyrgyzstan’s Nursultan Emilbek Uulu finished second, while Hungary’s Laszlo Koczka took bronze. Kazakhstan’s Asemgul Galymzhanova won the women’s event, followed by teammate Aikorkem Batikhkan. Klara Spiridonova of Russia finished third.

Dzhunusov then took the top place under Turkish rules as well. Mongolia’s Ganzorig Bat-Erdene won silver, and Kazakhstan’s Ali Sesiguzel took bronze. In the women’s competition, Kazakhstan’s Ayash Kabdollaeva won, Kyrgyzstan’s Asel Sadyrova finished second and Russia’s Spiridonova took third.

A total of 211 athletes from 51 countries took part in the competition under Kyrgyz rules. The winners and other top finishers received cash prizes.
