World's Largest Locomotive, Union Pacific's Big Boy, Completes Epic Journey

Union Pacific's Big Boy, recognized as the world's largest steam locomotive, has successfully concluded its extensive cross-country journey this summer. The iconic engine, a symbol of American industrial might, captivated audiences across its route.

This particular Big Boy, Union Pacific 4014, is one of only eight of its kind ever built. It was originally retired in 1961 after traveling more than a million miles. The locomotive was later acquired by Union Pacific and underwent a meticulous multi-year restoration, returning to excursion service in 2019.
