Xiaomi to Present Humanoid Robot at 2026 World Robot Conference

Chinese technology conglomerate Xiaomi has announced it will debut its first humanoid robot at the 2026 World Robot Conference, scheduled to take place in Beijing from August 19-23. The unveiling marks a significant step for the company into the field of advanced robotics.

The robot, standing approximately 1.7 meters tall, is engineered for deployment in smart manufacturing facilities. Its design is based on a universal humanoid framework, encompassing both its physical structure and the artificial intelligence that powers it. Xiaomi plans to integrate this robot into its broader "human, car, and home" ecosystem, enabling seamless interaction with other technologies across smart factories, intelligent transportation, and smart homes.

Xiaomi aims to deploy the humanoid robot in smart manufacturing facilities, allowing the machine to take over certain manual operations.

This move follows successful internal trial runs conducted at Xiaomi's automotive plant. During a four-month "internship," the humanoid robots demonstrated proficiency in tasks such as tightening nuts, initially achieving a 90.2% success rate that was later improved to 98% through ongoing testing. They were also assigned to the final assembly shop, where they successfully handled long-duration tasks involving flexible components, such as folding center console side covers and managing material boxes, with a 90% success rate.

Xiaomi President Lu Weibing confirmed the announcement during the company's financial results conference, emphasizing the robot's potential role in automating manual operations within smart manufacturing. The company's strategic integration of the robot across its diverse product lines aims to create a cohesive technological experience for consumers and industrial partners alike.
