Yahaya transmits 23 commissioner nominees to Gombe assembly

The nominations were formally conveyed in a letter dated June 29, 2026, addressed to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo. This action aligns with Section 192(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which outlines the process for appointing commissioners.

Ismaila Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House, Gombe, disclosed that the governor carefully selected the nominees. He stated that these individuals were chosen "to provide policy direction and functional contributions necessary for the efficient running of the machinery of government and the consolidation of the administration’s development agenda."

Governor Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has formally transmitted to the Gombe State House of Assembly a list of twenty-three nominees for appointment as Honourable Commissioners and members of the Gombe State Executive Council, seeking legislative approval in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The governor expressed confidence in the Assembly's swift consideration of the request. Upon confirmation by the lawmakers, the nominees will be sworn in by the governor and assigned portfolios to head various ministries. The House of Assembly is expected to commence screening the nominees in the coming days.
