Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, star of the recently canceled Marvel series "Wonder Man," shared his thoughts with fans following the discontinuation of the show's second season. Despite the surprise cancellation, Abdul-Mateen, who was nominated for an Emmy for his role as Simon Williams, conveyed a message of appreciation and resilience.

"This is life, isn't it?" the actor wrote on Instagram, addressing the fans who enjoyed the series. "Everything will be alright. I wanted to thank everyone who watched the series, enjoyed the series, and shared how much they liked it. The series worked. And that's what I like most about all of this."

Abdul-Mateen highlighted the positive impact the show had on viewers, noting that it reminded many of the importance of perseverance. "I see in the messages I receive that the series has reminded many of you not to give up, and I notice it in the sincere affection you transmit to me when I meet many of you daily. So today I am thinking of all of you. I'm glad we were able to be part of something so cool."

The series, co-created by Andrew Guest and Destin Daniel Cretton, centered on Simon Williams, an aspiring actor with superpowers aiming to achieve his dream of playing his childhood hero, "Wonder Man," in a film remake. However, Hollywood had banned superpowers, introducing a conflict that involved Trevor Slattery, who aided Williams on his path to stardom amidst a web of secrets.

Concluding his message with a touch of irony, Abdul-Mateen added, "Thank you for watching us… And, well… See you at the Emmys," referencing his nomination for the upcoming ceremony.
