Yango Cameroon extends safety partnership with Douala and Yaoundé, confirms new driver training session in September

Yango Ride says it will hold another safety and driver-wellness event in Cameroon in September 2026, extending a partnership that brought the company together with the municipalities of Douala and Yaoundé.

The ride-hailing service, owned by global technology group Yango Group, presented regional findings from its 2024-2025 Safety Report on Sept. 3, 2026. The report highlights updated privacy technology, anti-fraud systems and emergency assistance available around the clock in the African markets where Yango operates.

In July 2025, Yango organized two events with the city authorities in Douala and Yaoundé. More than 100 partner drivers attended across the two cities. The sessions combined training on safety features built into the application with free health checks, allowing drivers to speak directly with municipal authorities and Yango safety specialists.

Yango said new systems for analyzing driving style and monitoring speed helped reduce reported dangerous-driving incidents across Africa by 38% in 2024-2025, from 13.05 to 8.08 incidents per million rides. It also reported declines in Côte d’Ivoire, Zambia, Angola and Senegal. Complaints linked to post-trip contact fell in several markets as privacy protections for calls expanded. Emergency assistance remains available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including in Cameroon. Yango said trained specialists aim to make initial contact within five minutes in 90% of urgent cases globally.
