Yayi pledges inclusive development for Egbaland

Olamilekan Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Ogun State in 2027, popularly known as Yayi, has pledged to make the development of Egbaland, including the state capital Abeokuta, a top priority if elected governor. He also committed to executing infrastructure projects aimed at stimulating socio-economic growth across the Ogun Central Senatorial District.

Adeola made these promises during a visit to the palace of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo. Formally presented to the monarch by his maternal kinsmen from Kemta Odusolu Township in Abeokuta, Adeola emphasized his long-standing connection to the area. Despite representing the Ogun West Senatorial District, he noted his role in facilitating numerous development projects across the six local government areas within Ogun Central.

My visit here today is to formally inform the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, my father, that I am the governorship candidate of the APC. I am happy to be presented to this palace by my kinsmen from my maternal side in Kemta Odusolu Township in Abeokuta. I am no stranger to Egbaland because I identified with my maternal roots over 20 years ago. Abeokuta is my maternal home, and I hold the town very dearly.

The senator described the visit as an opportunity to formally inform the traditional ruler of his emergence as the APC's governorship candidate for the 2027 election. He asserted his status as a "bona fide son of Egbaland" through his maternal lineage, highlighting over two decades of maintaining close ties with the region. Adeola acknowledged the Alake's support and royal blessings, recognizing the monarch's significant role in his emergence as the party's candidate.

Adeola assured the people of Egbaland that his administration would be inclusive and would position the region centrally in governance. He stated, "As a senator representing Ogun West, I have facilitated several projects, including roads, solar streetlights, water projects, scholarships and bursaries, schools, libraries and health facilities across Ogun Central. I want to promise you that I will work for the overall development of Egbaland when I assume office as governor next year."
