The upcoming Yellow Run 2026, scheduled for Sunday, June 7, at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) in Jakarta, is poised to be more than just a running event; organizers aim to set a new national record. The initiative seeks to harness the growing popularity of running in Indonesia and provide a challenging platform for both individual runners and communities to test their training and skills.

Mukhamad Misbakhun, the initiator of Yellow Run, stated that the event is designed to capture the enthusiasm of the public for running. "We want to capture all the public's enthusiasm for those who love running, including communities with great love for this sport. Yellow Run is expected to be a moment for them to show their best abilities that have been honed through their training and hobbies," Misbakhun told reporters on Saturday.

The Yellow Run 2026 will feature two categories: 5 kilometers and 10 kilometers. However, the primary focus is on the 10K race, with the ambitious goal of establishing a new national record in this discipline. Misbakhun expressed that breaking a national record would be an invaluable source of pride for the organizers and a testament to the event's ability to foster peak athletic performance.

Race Director Reza Puspo noted that preparations for Yellow Run have been remarkably quick, commencing only about three months prior. Despite the short timeframe, the public response has been overwhelmingly positive, with registration targets met by mid-April. Puspo highlighted that Yellow Run differentiates itself from other running events by concentrating on the 10K category, aiming to revitalize a long-standing national record. To support this objective, the race route is being designed to minimize traffic interference, ensuring a conducive environment for elite athletes to compete.
