Yellow Run 2026 Plants 4,444 Banyan Trees as Symbol of Environmental Care

Runners participating in Jakarta's Yellow Run 2026 have demonstrated their commitment to environmental care by planting 4,444 banyan trees. The tree-planting ceremony, held at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) stadium, was attended by prominent figures including Mukhamad Misbakhun, Chairman of Commission XI of the DPR RI, and Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Misbakhun highlighted that the thousands of banyan saplings represent the runners' dedication to environmental sustainability. "You runners have cared for the environment. The runners have donated 4,444 banyan trees," he stated, emphasizing that the event symbolizes the running community's concern for environmental preservation. He added, "The best tree is the banyan tree!"

The banyan trees were sourced from a portion of the participants' registration fees, with the funds directed towards various greening initiatives. Banyan trees were specifically selected for their ability to provide shade and their significant role in maintaining water reserves, contributing to the ecological balance of their surroundings.

The Yellow Run 2026, themed "Healthy Lifestyle and Environmental Care," aims to extend its positive impact beyond the sporting event. Organizers hope the planted trees will grow into beneficial shade trees, supporting communities and preserving the ecosystem for the long term. The event itself attracted nearly 11,000 participants for its 5K and 10K races, alongside various social and environmental activities.
