Yemen Boosts Military Readiness Amid Houthi Escalation

Yemen's government forces are heightening military and security readiness in multiple provinces amid a surge in Houthi ballistic missile and drone attacks that have claimed civilian and military lives. The escalation has prompted Yemeni officials to reaffirm the "united and cohesive" stance of forces backing legitimacy, stressing the critical need for improved coordination among all military and security branches.

In response to recent Houthi assaults on military sites and civilian areas in Marib and Hadramout, the Yemeni armed forces launched a military operation targeting Houthi positions. This action followed an emergency meeting of the National Defense Council, chaired by Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi. The council sanctioned a series of measures aimed at boosting military and security preparedness, enhancing civil defense, strengthening inter-institutional coordination, and safeguarding civilians and vital infrastructure.

Further underscoring the heightened alert, security and military committees convened in key provinces. In Marib, Presidential Leadership Council member Sultan Al-Arada chaired a meeting with military officials, including Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Sagheer bin Aziz, to assess security developments and response capabilities. Simultaneously, Hadramout province held an extraordinary security committee meeting, led by Presidential Leadership Council member and Governor Salem Al-Khanbashi. This gathering focused on recent Houthi escalations and reviewed the security posture, confirming that vigilance and readiness levels have been elevated to their highest point within the Second Military Region and all associated units and agencies.
