Yemen: Houthi Attacks on Al-Mokha Port Kill One, Injure Eight Civilians

One port security officer was killed and eight civilians sustained injuries in a series of Houthi attacks targeting the Al-Mokha district and port in Yemen’s southwestern Taiz province, state-run media reported.

According to Saba TV, the Iranian-backed Houthis launched missile and drone assaults on Al-Mokha Port and the district center. The attacks also resulted in two sailors remaining unaccounted for.

Sadık Duveyd, spokesperson for the Yemeni government-affiliated National Resistance Forces, stated that the Houthis had attacked Al-Mokha for several consecutive days. These assaults reportedly involved 40 ballistic missiles, 46 drones, and bomb-laden boats. Duveyd added that the targets included Al-Mokha Port and facilities crucial for civilian services.

Al-Mokha, a port of strategic importance situated on the Red Sea, is currently under the control of forces loyal to Yemen’s internationally recognized government. This is not the first time the port has been targeted; Yemeni authorities confirmed that the Houthis launched similar missile and drone attacks last week, causing casualties.
