Yemen's Houthis claim attack on Saudi Aramco's Jazan refinery

Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed responsibility Sunday for an attack on Saudi Aramco's Jazan refinery in southwestern Saudi Arabia. Firefighters extinguished a fire that broke out early at the facility, the Saudi Arabian Energy Ministry confirmed. Aramco's industrial security teams controlled the blaze, and authorities were completing procedures to address the incident, the ministry stated on X. The cause of the fire was not specified.

The Jazan refinery is located on the Red Sea, near the border with Yemen. It processes 400,000 barrels of crude oil per day, producing refined products such as gasoline and ultra-light sulfur diesel. This is not the first time the refinery has been targeted. In late July, Aramco shut down the refinery following a Houthi attack that damaged its Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) complex and tank farm area.
