Yemeni army says it destroyed strategic Houthi camp

Yemen's government-aligned army says it has destroyed and neutralized Al Labnat, a strategic Houthi camp in the desert of Al Jawf. The position lies near routes linking Al Jawf and the oil-rich province of Marib and is considered important for controlling the surrounding desert areas.

The Defense Ministry said its forces had eliminated Houthi capabilities and fighters at the camp, using recently introduced advanced military equipment. Majed al Nazili, a ministry spokesman, described the operation as a response to what he called an escalation and violations by the Houthi militia, without giving further details.

Al Labnat has served the Iran-backed Houthis as an advanced operations and troop-concentration center, according to the report. Government attacks on the camp have directly affected the Marib fronts and coincided with reported army advances in Hays district, in western Al Hodeidah province.

The claims followed the army's announcement that it had regained “full control” of Hays, along with other strategic Houthi positions. President of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council Rashad al-Alimi, who is backed by Saudi Arabia, praised what he called victories in Taiz and Hodeidah, particularly the “complete liberation” of Hays. “The armed forces, which repelled the Houthi attacks and took the initiative on the ground, are capable of regaining full control of Yemeni territory,” he said, according to the official SABA news agency.

State media also reported that the Houthis fired three ballistic missiles at Taiz early Sunday. The missiles landed near the medical college and central prison in the west of the city, causing no casualties, it said. The report added that around 1,400 families from Taiz and Al Hodeidah had been forced to move to other locations.
