YKS Candidates Beware! Violators of These Rules Will Have Their Exams Invalidated

Millions of students across Turkey are preparing for the 2026 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), a crucial step toward their university dreams. Success hinges not only on academic preparation but also on meticulous adherence to the exam's stringent rules, as violations can lead to disqualification.

To be admitted to the exam hall and ensure their test is considered valid, candidates must possess two essential original documents: their YKS Exam Entry Permit for the specific session and a valid identification document. Separate permits are required for each session (TYT, AYT, and YDT). The entry permit can be in color or black and white, but the photograph must be clear, and no writing or markings are allowed on the front or back. Accepted forms of identification include a T.C. Identity Card (new or old) with a cold stamp, current photo, and T.C. ID number, or a valid passport. Temporary ID documents issued by population directorates, bearing a barcode and QR code, are also acceptable.

The exam administration permits a limited number of personal items in the examination hall. Candidates may bring water, but any brand or barcode labels must be completely removed from the bottle. Those with chronic health conditions requiring medication during the exam can bring their medicines in transparent packaging, provided they have notified ÖSYM in advance with a doctor's report and prescription. Simple hair clips without metal or plastic beads and plain safety pins for headscarves are permitted. Plain metal wedding bands are allowed, but other jewelry like earrings, necklaces, or bracelets are prohibited.

Strict prohibitions are in place for items that could lead to confiscation or immediate disqualification. These include mobile phones, smartwatches, analog or digital watches, wireless headphones, Bluetooth devices, calculators, bags, wallets, metal keychains, house or car keys, and accessories with plastic or metal components. Writing materials such as notebooks, rulers, and scratch paper are also banned, as these will be provided at the desks by ÖSYM. Any food or drink, except for water in a transparent container, is forbidden.

Crucially, candidates must arrive at the exam venue well in advance of the closing times. Entry will be strictly denied after 10:00 AM for the TYT and AYT sessions and after 3:30 PM for the YDT session. It is strongly advised to be at the exam building at least one hour before the doors close to allow ample time for security checks and to avoid any last-minute issues.
