YKS university entrance exam marathon begins; results due July 22

The Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) marathon commenced today with the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), marking the start of a significant hurdle for millions of aspiring university students in Turkey. A total of 2,425,628 candidates registered for the first session, which began at 10:15 AM. The YKS is spread across multiple sessions, with the Field Proficiency Tests (AYT) scheduled for Sunday, June 21, at 10:15 AM, attracting 1,627,960 participants. A third and final session, the Foreign Language Test (YDT), will follow at 3:45 PM the same day, with 203,639 candidates competing in various languages including English, Arabic, German, Russian, and French. This year's examination is being held across 254 centers in all 81 provinces of Turkey, as well as in Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The exam results are slated for release on July 22, 2026. Special provisions are in place for disabled candidates, including extra time and assistance, and the exam will be held for the first time in four new districts: Gazipaşa in Antalya, Ilgın in Konya, Kuşadası in Aydın, and Of in Trabzon.
