Yogyakarta Railways Adds Extra Trains for Islamic New Year Holiday

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daerah Operasi 6 Yogyakarta is preparing for the Islamic New Year holiday by adding three extra train services. These additional journeys are scheduled to coincide with the observance of 1 Muharram 1448 Hijriah, which falls on June 16, 2026. The move is a proactive measure to manage the expected rise in passenger numbers during the religious holiday period.

Feni Novida Saragih, Public Relations Manager for KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, stated that the extra trains are intended to meet the transportation needs of the public. She anticipates that the holiday will see increased travel for various purposes, including tourism, visiting family and friends, and business. "The momentum of the Islamic New Year holiday is expected to increase public mobility, both for tourism, silaturahmi, and business purposes. This addition of services is a form of KAI's commitment to providing more capacity so that customers can travel safely, comfortably, and on time," Feni said, as quoted by Antara.

The three special train services include the KA Batavia Tambahan (Solo Balapan-Gambir, round trip), KA Sancaka Fakultatif (Yogyakarta-Surabaya Gubeng, round trip), and another KA Tambahan service (Yogyakarta-Gambir, round trip). KAI is urging passengers to plan their trips and secure tickets in advance through KAI's official sales channels to ensure they get their preferred departure times. Passengers are also reminded to arrive at the station earlier than their scheduled departure and to double-check their travel details to prevent any discrepancies during verification.
