Yonghe Dingxi MRT Station area public urban renewal project attracts over 20 billion NT dollars in private investment

A significant urban renewal project near the Dingxi MRT Station in Yonghe, New Taipei City, has successfully secured private investment, marking a major step towards revitalizing the area. The New Taipei City Housing and Urban Development Center announced that the project, focusing on Zone A of the Dingxi MRT Station vicinity, has selected Hanting Construction Co., Ltd. as the preferred applicant following a comprehensive evaluation.

Hanting Construction is set to invest over 20 billion New Taiwan dollars (approximately $640 million USD) to develop four high-rise buildings, ranging from 28 to 35 stories. The project will also incorporate essential public facilities, including a daycare center for the elderly, community living spaces for individuals with disabilities, and a civic activity center. This development aims to enhance the safety and quality of the living environment in a district that has seen over six decades of growth.

The project site spans 1.67 hectares and currently houses 395 households with nearly 450 property owners. The complexity of property rights, combined with the area's mixed residential and commercial uses, presented a significant challenge in balancing owner interests, public facility needs, and market feasibility. The New Taipei City Housing and Urban Development Center has been working on this since 2023, conducting property inventories, planning, and engaging with residents through 11 community meetings to build consensus.

This collaboration between the public sector and private developers is crucial for tackling challenging urban renewal initiatives. Hanting Construction, a member of the Han Huang Group, has extensive experience in urban development in the Zhonghe and Yonghe areas, bringing local knowledge to the project. The new development will feature underground parking, green building standards, and smart building technology, along with direct connections to the Dingxi MRT station, aiming to create a more integrated and accessible community.
