Yonsei University President Yoon Dong-seop visits US to expand global research cooperation and talent acquisition

Yonsei University President Yoon Dong-seop concluded an extensive visit to the United States aimed at broadening global research collaborations and enhancing the university's capacity to attract top-tier researchers. The trip, spanning August 2nd to 11th, focused on strengthening international research networks and fostering joint projects.

In Atlanta, Yoon met with Leah Ward Sears, president of Emory University, to sign a strategic agreement for expanded research and educational exchanges. The collaboration will prioritize future strategic fields, including bio and biomedical engineering, and facilitate researcher exchanges. At the Georgia Institute of Technology, Yoon engaged with faculty and researchers in biomedical engineering, exploring potential joint research and degree programs.

President Yoon also led a "Yonsei Session" at the UKC 2026 (US-Korea Conference) in Orlando, Florida. He presented Yonsei's research vision, global strategy, and support systems to overseas Korean scientists and researchers, seeking opportunities for international joint research. A "Yonsei Booth" at the event served as a hub for interaction, showcasing the university's research capabilities.

Additionally, Yoon attended the 16th Yonsei Alumni Association of America Forum and General Assembly, discussing the university's internationalization strategy and fostering collaboration among global alumni. "World-class universities, research institutions, and overseas Korean scientists and alumni are key partners in enhancing Yonsei's global competitiveness," Yoon stated. He pledged continued efforts to expand international joint research and attract outstanding talent, positioning Yonsei as a leading research university.
