Yoruba Group Afenifere Hails Governors, Police Chiefs for Tackling Kidnapping and Banditry

Afenifere, a prominent pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, has lauded the decisive actions taken by the governors of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, in combating banditry and kidnapping.

The organization extended its commendation to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos states, Bode Ojajuni and Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, respectively. Their coordinated efforts in tackling criminal activities along the critical Ogbere-Sagamu-Ore corridor were specifically recognized.

In a letter signed by its National Organizing Secretary, Kole Omololu, Afenifere praised the IGP for providing strategic leadership and intelligence-driven policing. The group noted that the "unwavering political commitment" from Governors Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun created an enabling environment for security agencies to effectively perform their duties.

Afenifere stated that the prompt and coordinated response from the security chiefs and governors has significantly restored public confidence in safety across the affected areas. The organization emphasized that the successful operations underscore the importance of purposeful leadership, professional policing, and robust inter-state collaboration in the fight against violent crimes.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to a secure Southwest region, sending an unequivocal message that "Kò sí àyè", there is no place for evil in Yorubaland. They declared that those who threaten the region's peace and prosperity will face the full force of the law, expressing profound gratitude for the "exemplary display of courage, dedication and public service."
