Young Man Sentenced to Several Years for Possession of Pistol and Large Cash Amount

A 22-year-old man from Odense has been sentenced to three years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm and a significant amount of cash. The court found him guilty of possessing a functional pistol with a magazine and cartridges, along with 126,500 Danish kroner in cash. The prosecution stated that the money was proven to be proceeds from drug trafficking.

During a search of the man's residence, police also discovered a knife and pepper spray. An additional pepper spray and 20,000 Danish kroner in cash were found at his home. The man has been in pre-trial detention since March 5. He has been granted time to consider whether to appeal the sentence.

In separate news, Danish police are re-contacting individuals affected by a shooting incident in Nørresundby to offer further psychological support. Separately, the EU has fined Google one billion dollars for violating competition laws, specifically for favoring its own services in search results and restricting app developers. The app AltID, launched three weeks ago, has been downloaded by nearly a quarter of a million users in Denmark, allowing digital identification and proof of age directly from a mobile phone.
