Yudhoyono's Grandson Attends Nahdlatul Ulama Congress, Emphasizes Unity

Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, grandson of former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, attended the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress in Jombang, highlighting the historical and cultural ties that made his presence significant. Representing the Democratic Party and his family, Yudhoyono conveyed greetings for the congress, which took place from August 27-31, 2026.

Speaking at the event, Yudhoyono lauded Nahdlatul Ulama for returning to its core principles and continuing its significant work in faith, Islam, and piety, while also serving the nation. He emphasized NU's indispensable contribution to Indonesian national life, particularly in preserving national unity and fostering religious moderation.

"NU is the glue of unity, the guardian of religious moderation, and an important part of nurturing the nation's morals and ethics," Yudhoyono stated. He further noted that these messages are especially relevant amidst Indonesia's diversity, advocating for the strengthening of three pillars of brotherhood: Islamic, national, and human brotherhood.

Yudhoyono expressed his hope that the congress would be a harmonious and blessed event, fostering synergy and collaboration. The 35th NU Congress served as a crucial forum for ulama, kiai, and representatives from across the archipelago to discuss the future direction and programs of the organization.
