Democratic Progressive Party candidate Liu Chien-kuo is making a second bid for Yunlin County magistrate, urging voters to support him for change. "The first step to change is courage," Liu declared in an interview, calling on Yunlin residents to vote for him on November 28 to alter the county's destiny.

Four years ago, Liu narrowly lost to the incumbent Kuomintang magistrate, Chang Li-shan. Reflecting on his past electoral experiences, from city representative to legislator, Liu stated that each defeat has led to thorough self-examination and adjustments. He believes he has surpassed his previous efforts, allowing more constituents to understand his long-term policy proposals and development plans.

Liu acknowledged that he doesn't market himself well, even receiving advice from former President Tsai Ing-wen to improve in this area. His primary motivation for running again is to transform Yunlin and create a "new Yunlin." Facing a close race, Liu highlighted his understanding of the needs of vulnerable families, laborers, farmers, small businesses, and the education sector, stemming from his own humble background. He aims to lead Yunlin forward through industrial upgrades, creating stable, high-paying jobs to retain and attract young talent.
